The Mayor of Dudley officially opens USP Steels new purpose-built, eco-friendly steel stock holding facility in Kingswinford.

Residents, customers, suppliers and local congress members gathered to observe the official opening of the new USP Steels facility in October 2022. With the Mayor of Dudley facilitating the cutting of the ribbon, the opening day was to celebrate the success and another progressive year for USP Steels Ltd. The growth of the business is a huge positive for the Black Country community creating more jobs and business opportunities along the way.

The new 4-acre site with its 50,000 sq. ft distribution centre, supplying steel sheet and plate, will be one of the leading facilities in the UK affording space to further expand all operations into 2023 and beyond.

Facilities will include an on-site bar, multi-use gym, sauna room and gaming area including a games machine and pool table in the recreational area. With employee health and wellbeing being at the heart of the new site, USP Steels understands the importance for employees have a place to relax and take time to focus, as well as work when needed. The factory area will boast an extensive 40,000 sq. ft stock area alone and will enable a continuous flow of work and movement of steel, with a simultaneous operation through 6 loading bays.

Supplying a variety of sectors nationwide such as yellow goods, construction, transport and subcontract laser processing, USP Steels has consciously made decisions along the way to ensure the new site is sustainable and eco-friendly. It has been constructed with various energy efficient solutions including Solar Panels, sound proofing, as well as EV charging points to encourage the use of electric cars. It will also have improved insulation and cladding encompassing the entire site, being fully insulated to reduce energy consumption.

USP Steels believes in supporting local businesses wherever possible and will continue to do this where possible in the future. Investing £750,000 in 20 new trailers in collaboration with local company Butlers Haulage, this will help the distribution of steel throughout the UK become more efficient and be economically friendly. As well as this, they are continuing to develop their current apprentice scheme by introducing a Centre of Excellence, a USP Academy where young people can come into the business to develop, focus and learn an industry in all departments.
