USP Steels Ltd is investing in two new energy-efficient overhead travelling cranes to improve the efficiency of its steel coil handling operations and reduce energy consumption. This includes the supply, installation and commissioning of two 35 tonne double girder cranes with inverter speed control on all motions.
An initial review of available solutions has identified the following equipment types as suitable benchmarks; however, alternative equipment will be considered where it can demonstrate performance equivalent to or exceeding the capability of the referenced items.
The proposed scope currently comprises:
• Supply of 2 no. 35 tonne SWL top-running, double girder, box beam electric overhead travelling cranes, with a span of 17.468 m between rail centres and a 9 m height of lift.
• Crane duty class A5, with M6-rated hoist, cross travel and long travel motions suitable for heavy-duty steel coil handling.
• Inverter speed control on all motions, radio remote control with back-up pendant, and power supply to the bottom hook block for a coil grab.
• Supply and installation of all supporting ancillary equipment, including the crane power supply.
• Installation, proof load testing, commissioning and certification of both cranes.
